![]() ![]() What do others do with their mail when going overseas for extended periods? We'd be happy to just have it 'held' somewhere but our local PO staff made it quite clear that after 30 days on hold, if we don't pick it up, it will go back to sender. ![]() However, we recently moved to a new city and state and don't have anyone we know well enough to either burden or entrust with dealing with our mail. We offered to pay them, but they wouldn't take any money, but we sent them gift cards and brought them a nice gift from France. Years ago when we traveled overseas for 3+ months, we had friends who would pick up our mail and email us about what we had received. For these reasons, CMRA's won't work for us. AND the USPS will NOT allow you to make a COA (Change of Address) from a CMRA to any other address (i.e., back to your house). However, the USPS requires these CMRA's to file a notice with the PO that you have opted for this service and are thus permanently changing your address. There are many of these companies with very positive reviews, many by full-time RV'ers who use them year round, year after year. ![]() We looked into CMRA's (Commercial Mail Receiving Agencies).they offer great services at reasonable prices.including scanning the outside of every envelope, emailing you daily about what's in your 'box' and you can also have it opened and the contents scanned to your email. We aren't worried about bills (they are all on billpay or autopay with bank), but there's always something unexpected that could need our attention. We are contemplating renting a house in Italy for 5 months this spring and summer. They will only 'vacation hold' mail at the Post Office for 30 days. USPS will not temporary forward mail overseas. ![]()
